_couple-quit-9-5-jobs-to-live-in-a-van-and-drive-3000-miles-to-the-arctic-circle.webp "A travelling couple who quit their 9-5 jobs to live in a van have made it to the Arctic Circle - in a 3,000 mile trip.<br/><br/>Chris, 31, and Sam Hoar, 30, left Plymouth in February to venture up through Sweden and Finland - and they have just arrived in Alta, Norway.<br/><br/>They are now heading to North Cape - the furthest northern point of the country they are able to drive to - before arriving home in April to round off the epic 7,500 mile trip.<br/><br/>Despite the temperature dropping to -23 degrees Celsius, the pair, who are now travel bloggers, say their trip has been “incredible” and they have never looked back since buying a van in 2018.<br/><br/>Sam said: “I don’t think we realised what we were actually in for - but this journey has been absolutely breathtaking and blown our minds.<br/><br/>“Time doesn't wait for anybody and taking a risk to move into our van was the best thing we’ve ever done.<br/><br/>“We knew we had nothing to lose because in the worst case scenario we would go back to doing our nine to five jobs that we did anyway - but life is too short!”<br/><br/>Chris and Sam were determined their adventure to the Arctic Circle would be possible after watching videos of others living the van life and exploring the world during lockdown.<br/><br/>The couple, who have been together for 16 years after meeting at school when they were 14, were particularly inspired by one of these videos showing a couple travelling through Norway.<br/><br/>Sam admitted the scenery blew them away so much that they knew they had to go.<br/><br/>So far in their Arctic circle trip, the pair say they have been left astounded by the beautiful scenery and vast expense of wildlife.<br/><br/>Chris said: “For us, we have never seen snow like this in all our lives.<br/><br/>“I’m talking seven foot of show outside right, with temperatures dropping to -23 degrees.<br/><br/>“The weather has definitely tested the van properly being up here, but we still haven’t broken down and the vastness of the wilderness all around us is breathtaking and unreal.<br/><br/>“We have seen wild moose - that look like horses on steroids over here - reindeer, wolves.<br/><br/>“We've definitely got the bug now and feel like we even want to return next year even earlier in the year during the more extreme winter.”<br/><br/>Before leaving their nine to five jobs for the tiny-home life in living from a van, Sam worked as a beauty therapist and Chris was working as a mechanical engineer aswell as being a retained firefighter. <br/><br/>After always enjoying exploring nature together, the pair decided to hire their first van for three weeks to travel New Zealand and explore the South Island in 2018.<br/><br/>Two weeks after arriving back to the UK after this trip, the new-found explorers bought their first van “and have never looked back”.<br/><br/>Sam explained: “I must admit when Chris first said that we're gonna be hiring a camper van to see New Zealand I like ‘are we not going to do any hotels?'<br/><br/>“But he said you can’t really do New Zealand in hotels as the best way to travel is via a campervan so you can see all the sites.<br/><br/>“So I trusted him - and fell in love with it.<br/><br/>“I actually adored the fact that you had your home and you could just rock up and move and go wherever you wanted to go.<br/><br/>“So when we came back, Chris bumped my arm into getting our first little Volkswagen T4 and that's what we started off with - just an adventure van, really, but it felt so right.<br/> <br/>“We were going away at the weekends when we had time off together and we never ever wanted it to end, and we just kept having conversations about how nice it would be to do it permanently”.<br/><br/>The pair continued talking about the potentials until the pandemic hit - which is when they decided to rent out their home in Plymouth, conduct a ten hour journey to purchase minibus up in Scotland and do it up to meet the entirety of their living needs.<br/><br/>Many youtube videos later, Chris and Sam were able to implement running water pipes, electricity, gas pipes, insulation and plumbing into their new home.<br/><br/>The van is now kitted out with a shower, toilet, 100 litres of freshwater, a wastewater tank and 350 watt solar panels on the roof.<br/><br/>Chris said: “I googled it and thought I'm just gonna use YouTube, and then you'll just watch a couple of videos like, OK, I'll see what I need to do.<br/><br/>“And I thought wow, I’ve literally never done this before but you can just watch a video and do it.<br/><br/>“We did get it signed off though, just to make sure the really important things were safe!”")

_4-out-of-5-people-in-relationships-admit-their-partner-keeps-them-up-at-night.webp "A third of Americans look forward to nights their partner isn’t home — because they get the bed to themselves, according to new research.<br/><br/>The survey of 2,000 Americans who live with a partner found 36% appreciate when either they or their partner isn’t at home, as they don’t have to share a bed.<br/><br/>Maybe that’s because the results show that four in five respondents (82%) admit their partner’s sleeping habits consistently wake them up during the night.<br/><br/>Their partner snoring (52%), scrolling through their phone before bed (33%) and getting up at night to use the bathroom (33%) were found to be the most common sleep-disruptive habits.<br/><br/>Not only that, but a quarter of respondents also deal with their partner hogging the covers (27%), tossing and turning during the night (25%) or “starfishing” across the bed (21%).<br/><br/>Conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Avocado Green Mattress, the survey found that despite these annoyances, the majority of respondents aren’t quite ready to consider a “sleep divorce” from their partner.<br/><br/>Seventy-nine percent of respondents share a bed with their partner, while the remaining 21% either sleep in different rooms (10%), sleep separately in the same room (5%) or admit it “depends on the night” (6%).<br/><br/>This varies dramatically by generation: only 2% of Gen Zers surveyed said they sleep in a different room than their partner, compared to one in five baby boomers (18%).<br/><br/>Regardless of generation, only a fifth (21%) of those who currently share a bed believe they’ll sleep in separate beds in the future — but that’s not to say some couples haven’t found benefits in sleeping separately.<br/><br/>Results revealed that 42% of those who sleep separately from their partner believe it’s “rejuvenated” their relationship — and 23% believe it’s also improved their sex life with their partner.<br/><br/>Not only that, but 70% believe their quality of sleep has increased as a result of sleeping in a separate bed from their partner.<br/><br/>“If your partner snores, consider gifting them a wedge pillow. It can be hard to sleep when someone’s snoring in the same bed as you, but a wedge-shaped pillow can help reduce snoring throughout the night and ensure both you and your partner wake up feeling refreshed,” said Christine Carpio, Avocado's Senior Manager of Community + Social Impact.<br/><br/>Even if they’re not looking for a “sleep divorce,” 48% of all respondents admit their sleep quality does improve when they’re sleeping in a bed alone, versus sleeping with their partner.<br/><br/>But they might not truly be alone — the survey also asked respondents if they have young children, under the age of six (20% of respondents), or a dog or cat (38% of respondents).<br/><br/>Of those respondents (74% of the total), 24% admitted they’d rather sleep with their child and/or their pet than they would their partner.<br/><br/>“The good news is, ‘sleep divorce’ isn't the only way to improve the quality of your sleep. Investing in a mattress, pillows and bedding made of comfortable and supportive materials can improve sleep for you and your partner — as well as child or a pet, if they’re in bed with you — leading to less tossing and turning and significantly better sleep,” said Laura Scott, Avocado Green's Director of Brand Marketing.<br/><br/>Survey methodology:<br/>This random double-opt-in survey of 2,000 Americans who live with a partner was commissioned by Avocado Green Mattress between Feb. 27 and March 1, 2024. _quarter-of-menopausal-women-get-39second-wave-of-sisterhood39-from-the-experience.webp "A quarter of women experiencing menopause say the best thing about it is getting a ‘second wave of sisterhood’, according to research.<br/><br/>A study of 2,000 who are peri-menopausal, menopausal or who have had the menopause, found 14 per cent have made more friends by sharing their experiences of the life stage than they could ever have imagined.<br/><br/>While three in 10 admitted it felt like a new community of people formed around them – women who were experiencing the same things and who wanted to share their journey.<br/><br/>With 64 per cent feeling the recent rise of celebrities such as Linda Barker and Davina McCall talking openly about what has happened to them has had a positive impact.<br/><br/>And although menopause, with its 62 symptoms, brings with it a host of problems, 61 per cent admit they are more than willing to share what is happening to them with friends, family and work colleagues.<br/><br/>The research was carried out by hygiene and health company Essity, which continues its quest to keep the conversation about menopause open.<br/><br/>Spokeswoman Debbie Thomas said: “Menopause can clearly be a challenge for a lot of women and we certainly don’t want to suggest that it can be an easy time for those experiencing it.<br/><br/>“But as we can see from our research, there is comfort to be had from sharing stories with others in the same boat.<br/><br/>“And women are no longer as embarrassed to talk about what is happening to them as previous generations might have been – it feels like that mindset of hiding the truth is finally changing.”<br/><br/>The research found for those first experiencing menopause symptoms, feelings were overwhelmingly negative at first – with 36 per cent worried it made them old, 18 per cent upset and one in 10 in denial.<br/><br/>But 26 per cent of those polled, via OnePoll.com, were quickly surprised to discover how open some women are when discussing their experiences.<br/><br/>And it only took around three months before they became comfortable sharing their own stories.<br/><br/>By doing so, these women immediately felt supported by others (43 per cent), as well as a sense of solidarity (37 per cent).<br/><br/>Women are most likely to talk to their female friends about their experiences (71 per cent), but 40 per cent will chat to work colleagues, happily so in a workplace setting (38 per cent).<br/><br/>It emerged 41 per cent tended to stay on the sidelines of any conversation they were hearing about menopause soon after realising they also had symptoms – but 42 per cent are generally relieved when others open up as it makes them feel more normal.<br/><br/>As well as feeling reassured (29 per cent) and supported (27 per cent), 63 per cent admitted talking with like-minded people about what they are going through is as important to their mental health and well-being as any medication could be.<br/><br/>Sharon Clapp, 56, from Sidmouth, trained as a menopause practitioner after going through the menopause early due to a hysterectomy. <br/><br/>She said: “I trained as a menopause practitioner, I’m not a qualified GP - I don’t prescribe, or tell people that’s what they should be doing. <br/><br/>\")

XD<br/><br/>That’s how I’m rewriting Elise, full name Elisabeth, she’s a tomboyish elven warrior of water and the do-whatever-the-hell-I-want queen of Soleanna, the elven kingdom of the sun!<br/><br/>No longer with a history of having flames sealed in her and no “no crying” shtick, life in the lap of safety and luxury bored her, she yearned for a life of excitement and adventure!<br/><br/>Early on, the golden flame of hope was corrupted by an unknown entity, and it killed her father via corrupting his soul with cold, demonic flames.<br/><br/>It corrupted her soul too, but she miraculously resisted.<br/><br/>The sun archpriest ended up taking her to a martial arts temple of the moon and water.<br/><br/>Over the following four years, Elise became a warrior of water, darkness, and death, bit by bit, eradicating the demonic fire from her soul completely.<br/><br/>She was proficient enough to summon an equine projection of her soul water energy.<br/><br/>But, the new demonic Solaris was never found, and when a certain infamous roboticist gets involved, the situation becomes even more interesting.<br/><br/>I envision this new '06 plot taking place four years after Adventure, when both Elise and Sonic are twenty years old.<br/><br/>Sonic Adventure 2 does not happen.<br/><br/><br/>I do see a romance between elven Elise and realistic Sonic working out, since both of them enjoy a life of adventure and don’t want to settle down!<br/><br/>Their biology would not let them ever have children anyway! XD<br/><br/>I like the idea that Sonic went out with Amy prior to meeting Elise, and though they didn't work out as a couple, they remained good friends!<br/><br/>Elven Elise is similar to ‘06 Shadow personality-wise, I can see her learning from Sonic, and even Tails as merely a good friend, to take it easy and have fun sometimes, and Sonic learning from her to face his phobia of deep water, and the value of tough decisions, such as killing monsters.<br/><br/>Ivo's not that monster, not exactly, his ultimate goal was to rule the human united nations and his own larger-than-life theme park, not murder innocents.")
